Contests

There’s something exciting and special about sharing your own hard work and also watching others’ animated creations – especially if fame and fortune are at stake!

SAM Animation Spring Animation Contest: Bringing Toys to Life … WINNING ENTRIES!

Ever wonder what happens once you close the top to your toy chest? Do the toys come to life like in Toy Story? Sneak out while you’re not looking? Have a picnic or make up their own games?  Check out what THESE toys did when their owners (& winners!) weren’t looking …

OH NO!!  We goofed … and missed an entry!  And this entry was so good that we deemed it a runner-up.  Look at that toy rodeo!  Congrats Jenna, and sorry for our oversight!

Congrats to Caroline and Jenna!  Stay tuned in the coming months when we announce the summer contest!

We partner with other organizations around the world to host stop-motion animation competitions, and we also host our own online contests four times a year.

International Competitions

Quarterly Online Contests

Our first annual international competition was held in Singapore in November 2011, sponsored by the Singapore Science Center.  Over 400 students gathered in teams of 4 and put their hands together for 4 hours – with limited materials – to create animations on Climate Change.  Prizes such as Wii’s, iPads, and cash were given to teams winning a range of categories, including “Best Story”, “Most Creative”, and “Best Animation.”

In 2012 the competition will be open to regions outside of Singapore, and we are looking for those interested in hosting for their respective regions.  Please contact us if you are interested in hosting and/or participating in the future.

The innovators of our future are busy creating fabulous projects all of the time — why not showcase and share those with others?  Every 3-months we come up with a simple question, such as “Why did the chicken cross the road?” and challenge anyone to come up with an answer, animated in a clever manner.   The top 3 entries, which are selected based on a number of factors including originality, entertainment, relevance, and animation quality, are highlighted on the iCreate site until the next contest and also receive small cash prizes.

Feel free to contact us for questions and/or ideas on the upcoming contest or other related topics.
